ModeratorYes, as you commented, God uses trials to refine us and produce in us godly character. Through trials, God wants us to become more resemble His characters. As we grow spiritually, sometimes we can become proud and puffed up because of what we know. Thus, trials are meant to humble us and prevent such spiritual pride. God also allows us sufferings to test the strength of our faith and draws us closer to Him. Trials remind us that we need to depend on God alone for spiritual strength and satisfaction. Therefore, God uses sufferings to turn our dependence entirely on him. He wants us to cling to Him and find peace in Him alone.

ModeratorYes, I agree with you. Looking back at the trials I went through, I can confess that they were blessings in my life, although the process was difficult. Through those hardships, I was able to understand and encourage people who are going through the same difficult process. I also found that my immature characteristics, such as arrogance, narrow perspectives, and hot temperance, have also matured so that they can be used more by God. So, I was able to confess Job’s confession, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold” (Job 23:10).

ModeratorYes, that’s right. Realizing our initial responses to cover our shame and guilt, we need to step back. Whether they are lies or not, our efforts to cover them up cannot solve the cause. I hope that you will resolve the factors that cause this reaction from deep in your heart while remaining in your relationship with God. It can be a time to get to know God and get to know yourself through these times.

ModeratorThank you for sharing your tendency to cover up your shame and guilt. It takes courage and the help of the Holy Spirit to realize and acknowledge one’s problematic tendencies. I believe that solving a problem begins with recognizing that you have a problem. I pray that this realization can lead you to seek and depend more on God.
